Eyeglasses are a pathway out of poverty allowing people to live productive and easier lives. As part of our development cooperation, we build local structures and create jobs in our program countries in Africa, Asia, and South America.
Our mission is to empower people through good eyesight. The key: high-quality primary eye-care can and must be affordable. This is possible: our material costs for a pair of GoodVision glasses are still around US $ 1.

Let‘s change together the world for millions of people with refractive errors. Our organisation can be replicated anywhere in the world within a short period of time. Beyond the idea of affordable GoodVision glasses, we have achieved this by standardising our processes and quality management. In principle, we have designed our local organisational structure similar to a franchise model, making it as lean, as clear, and as structured as possible. The result: a growing number of professional and resilient organisations in the global south who earned the trust of governments and health institutions.
To achieve our vision we need to actively go, where our patients live, especially in structurally weak and low-income areas. We want to this in the best possible way. This is why effective and efficient collaboration through close teamwork is key.
Our organisations are structured in the way that we have full information access from A to Z and from Z to A. This enables us to consistently deliver high quality and best practice implementation.

GoodVision Glasses are manufactured locally on a simple bending machine which does not require electricity. A truly sustainable approach.
Around 30 mistakes can be made when bending a frame. That is why final frame adjustments are important.
Glasses of various sizes can be produced on the bending machine: the yellow marking is for small glasses, red for medium-sized glasses and blue for people with a large interpupillary distance.
A shrink tube is applied by hand to the temples and the nose bridge, so the glasses fit comfortably on the client’s nose bridge and behind the ears.
The pre-cut lenses, crafted from durable plastic, are resistant to both breaking and scratching. Available in a range of powers from -10.0 to +8.0 diopters, these lenses are designed to be easily clicked into the frame.
