With our mobile optician units, we reach remote regions in Colombia.
Using two mobile units, we serve locations where people usually have no access to eye-care infrastructure. Each bus can conduct up to 45 eye examinations per day and individually adjust the required glasses.
Health Campaigns in the Amazon Region
Geographical conditions make access to healthcare extremely difficult.
In cooperation with local clinics and the Colombian military, GoodVision Colombia has been able to reach indigenous communities in the Amazon through comprehensive health campaigns, enabling many people to receive their first-ever eye examination. Using seaplanes, boats, and backpacks, GoodVision’s approach allows us to provide eye care even in areas without access to electricity or running water.
The expansion of such campaigns in hard-to-reach regions of the Altiplano, the rainforests, and the vast plains of Colombia is already being planned for the future.
School Campaigns
Eighty percent of human perception depends on vision. Many learning difficulties among children and adolescents are caused solely by undiagnosed visual impairments.
Thanks to the support of weltwärts volunteers and the EinDollarBrille concept, we have already been able to ensure that 100% of students in four public schools in Tunja, the capital of the Department of Boyacá, received eye examinations (more than 3,500 students in total).
Our professional opticians prescribed and distributed over 600 pairs of glasses (2025).
Supporting remote areas
Promoting Eye Health
People affected by poverty often face particularly high health burdens, including problems related to vision. During every campaign, patients in the waiting area are informed in a ‘mobile eye exhibition’ about how to support their eyesight and prevent the development of visual impairments.
Education for Education
Worldwide, early vision loss is increasing at a young age due to frequent and unbalanced use of digital screens.
Therefore we started preventive eye health campaigns that we carry out in schools. These programs present the effects of screen use on eye health in an interactive way and explain how the human eye works, to students and teachers alike. We also show practical ways to reduce screen-related health damage.
Through this holistic approach, eye health is promoted and vision loss is actively counteracted.
Team Colombia
Within our team, we value fair treatment as well as transparent and flexible structures. Many of our employees are single parents, and their caregiving responsibilities must remain compatible with their paid work.
